In addition to more than 200 degree programmes, promoting lifelong learning is an important part of the University of Göttingen’s mission. The aim is to support learners in continuously developing their knowledge and skills so that they can respond effectively to changing societal and professional challenges.
As understood by the European University Alliance ENLIGHT, of which the University of Göttingen is a member, lifelong learners are people who actively acquire new knowledge and skills throughout their lives. This self-directed process encompasses both formal education and informal learning opportunities.
At the heart of lifelong learning are personal development, the ability to adapt to change, and the continuous development of one’s skills and competences – extending well beyond traditional school and higher education.
