Democracy in Lower Saxony is under pressure - but there is no crisis of the system
(pug) The vast majority of people in Lower Saxony -93 percent - support democracy as a form of government. However, trust in political figures is declining. Furthermore, while certain issues are highly polarizing, no two distinct social camps have emerged. For example, public attitudes toward migration and economic policy are less polarized than the public debate might suggest. This is shown by the latest figures from the Lower Saxony Democracy Monitor (NDM) 2025.

Margherita Cusmano receives a award from the Körber Foundation
Margherita Cusmano received an award by the Körber Foundation. She has been awarded with the second prize in the Social Sciences category for her dissertation, “How Migrants View Economic Inequality: A Mixed-Methods Study in Germany.” The award is endowed with 10.000 euros.Cusmano earned her doctoral degree in sociology from the University of Göttingen. She is currently conducting research as a research associate at the Max Planck Institute for Political and Social Sciences.

Dissertation defense and habilitation dates
