Description
The RTG workshop on ideophones mainly targets PhD students of the RTG and anyone who is interested in research on ideophones. The aim of the workshop is to discuss our current research on the topic, discuss both theoretical and methodological questions, address problems we have encountered, and exchange a lot of ideas.
We have invited Kathryn Barnes (University of Frankfurt) and Aleksandra Ćwiek (ZAS Berlin) for the workshop. Kat is a post-doctoral researcher in formal semantics and experimental pragmatics working on iconicity in language, and Aleksandra (Ola) is a post-doctoral researcher working on (acoustic and prosodic) iconicity, sound symbolism, and multimodality of communication.
We wish to keep the schedule flexible so that it provides a lively environment for open discussions about ideophones, sound-symbolism and related topics like iconicity in general. Of course, we also welcome discussions about iconic enrichments at all linguistic levels.
