Programme structure M.Sc. Molecular Life Sciences: Microbiology, Biotechnology and Biochemistry

I. Core Studies (60 C)
- 3 Core modules (each 12 C)
- Advanced module I (12 C, 7 week labrotation)
- Advanced module II (12 C, 7 week labrotation)
Mind: Prerequisite for entering the advanced modules is passing the respective core module (see module description).
II. Professionalisation (30 C)
- Profile module (12 C)
- Can be an additional core module
- a core module from the Master programme Developmental, Neural, and Behavioral Biology
- modules totalling 12 C of the Master programme Chemistry.
- M.Bio.180 (12 C): Students project in synthetic biology
- SK.Bio.331 (12 C): Research internship
- If authorised by the examination committee modules from other faculties or »assembled modules« (max 3 modules). Requires an application to the examination board.
- On request without grading.
- Advanced module III (6 C, compulsory module): M.Bio.131 Scientific project management
- 12 C in area of key competencies (no grading in final certificate)
- programme specific key competence modules
- key competencies of the faculty (incl. self organized laboratory projects or professional internship)
- soft skills offered by the university
III. Master Thesis (30 C)
- 26 weeks
- Prerequisite is successful completion of at least 78 C of modules within the programme including both advanced modules I and II as well as advanced module III M.Bio.131.
